ICA- the Overseas Study Centre- 9602 of IGNOU in Nepal has officially established an Innovation club under the National Centre for Innovations in Distance Education (NCIDE), IGNOU on March 23, 2019 (Saturday). The club has been named as IGNOU INNOVATION CLUB@ICA. This is the first International Innovation Club of IGNOU.
The National Centre for Innovations in Distance Education (NCIDE) was established in December 2005. It is a facility for promoting, supporting, re-engineering and disseminating innovations in Open and Distance Learning (ODL) system. The NCIDE is a ground for nurturing bright and inquisitive minds whose ideas and explorations are expected to develop the ODL system.
Objectives of the Innovation Club include:
Ø Generate awareness about creativity and innovations amongst the students
Ø Identify the grass root innovations by the faculty members, staff members, and students
Ø Create a network of innovators and create a culture of innovations
Ø Encouraging innovations in Distance Education (DE)
Best innovation will be included in the yearly publications of IGNOU, namely IGNOU Profile and the IGNOU Annual Report. Also, there is a provision to award Gold Medal under the category of “Student Innovation Award” by IGNOU every year to the best innovation by the IGNOU.
Learners, Academic Counselors, and Staff members are the members of the Club. Currently, a few innovative meetings and activities have already been conducted. Currently, Meetings of the Innovation Club focus more on the nature of the innovative project(s) that the club can take up, financial assistance, and membership drives. This club also encourages creativity and innovation in the ODL system among the learners, academic counselors, and staff members.
