ICA has been a great place to learn for learners since its establishment in 1997. In 2002, it became the first Partner Institution (PI) currently known as Overseas Study Center (OSC) of Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU).Open learning is primarily an educational policy or a goal in which education institutions who have settled with open learning accept every student who wants to pursue a degree without attending regular classes and can study from any place at their convenient time and pace. Distance education is more of a method of education where students can have their own time and venue for studies without being compromising professional and personal life.

ICA presently offers 9 different Academic, Value Added and Awareness programs through Open and Distance Learning (ODL) mode in Management, Humanities & Social Science, Tourism, Computer Science, etc .The learners enrolled in ICA are fresher’s or professionals from diverse fields such as Hospitality industry, Financial Institutions, Telecommunication, Corporate Houses, Embassies and Diplomatic agencies etc. ICA also offers such programs in collaboration with government and non-government agencies through an arrangement of program specific Work Centers and a strong network of Learner Support Centers situated in different locations of Nepal.

We are currently taking admissions for the session of July 2018 our programs are listed below.

BACHELOR’S DEGREE IN TOURISM STUDIES (BTS)

BTS is a 3-year Degree Programme. The Programme is of 96 credits. The BTS
Programme is designed for those students who are interested in pursuing a career in
travel and tourism sector at different level. The Programme is aimed at familiarizing you
with varied aspects of Tourism, creating awareness about tourism, imparting basic
training in organizing Tourism services and opening career opportunities. The
Programme will be of use to those, who are already employed (direct or indirect in
Tourism Industry), intend to make career in Tourism Industry, are providing tourism
related services through own enterprises or planning to become such entrepreneur. The
Programme is also useful for those who are associated with tourism awareness
Programmes /research and would like to update their knowledge and skills in the field of
travel and tourism.

BACHELOR PREPARATORY PROGRAME (BPP)

This Programme is offered by the University to those students who wish to do Bachelors Degree of IGNOU but do not have the essential qualification of having passed 10+2.

In absence of such a qualifying certificate these student are deprived of higher education. To enable such students to enter higher education stream, IGNOU has designed this preparatory Programme. This is an enabling programme of the University but is not equivalent to 10+2.

MASTER’S DEGREE IN COMPUTER APPLICATION (MCA)

The broad objective of the MCA programme is to prepare graduate students for productive careers in software industry and academia by providing an outstanding environment for teaching and research in the core and emerging areas of the discipline.

The Programme’s thrust is on giving the students a thorough and sound background in theoretical and application-oriented courses relevant to the latest computer software development. The programme emphasizes the application of software technology to solve mathematical, computing, communications/networking and commercial problems.

This Master’s Degree Programme has been designed with a semester approach in mind. The first year courses are aimed at skills development in computers using various technologies, the second year is more focused on core courses providing conceptual frame work and the third year provides the specialization and the project work.

MASTER’S DEGREE IN BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION (MBA)

The distance education MBA by IGNOU is designed in such a way that the learner has multiple exit points. This means that if you drop out at some point, there is a high chance you get at least a Diploma in Management or similar diplomas because you might have completed the course combinations required for being awarded a diploma. This is because the syllabus of correspondence MBA from IGNOU is a super set of all the diploma programs.

The program is accepted by the TU & KU. This makes it acceptable anywhere in Nepal, that being said, the recruiters might have their own set of norms for the candidate they prefer and varies widely from company to company. The placement prospects for the program varies from company to company.
